AURORA

by TYLER JACKSON

5 - 27 November 2022

A collection of new light-based works by New Zealand artist Tyler Jackson with an audio piece by Jack Jenkins. Referencing Bauhaus ideas of design, re-contextualised within the setting of DESIGN Canberra Festival, Aurora questions how we think of design within the context of new technologies, and more broadly how we perceive light and space in our technological age.

THE STILLS

by LUCY IRVINE

5 - 27 November 2022

Lucy Irvine, DESIGN Canberra Festival’s designer-in-residence, created The Stills as the signature work for the Festival. Irvine chose two small sections of weaving, cast them in bronze, then used repetition and pattern forming to show the iterative process of transformation. Irvine describes The Stills as a “woven cinema”, capturing transformation in stop motion: frame by frame we see change as reassuringly measurable.
