ALYCIA MOFFAT

Alycia Moffatt’s work is grounded in contemporary drawing practice and seeks a nexus between modes of drawing, sculpture and installation with a heightened concern for the viewer’s interaction and participation. She also considers the impact of how her art functions spatially within a gallery context. Works are often large scale, using charcoal on paper as a starting point. She is interested in the communicative capacity of gesture and the human body, investigating the convergence of physical and emotional realms. Recently she has been exploring significance of everyday objects (such as clothing) in relation to her own body, looking at these ideas through a framework of philosophy and feminist theory.
