TOM BUCKLAND
(2016)

With sculpture, performance and installation, Tom Buckland explores the relationship between humans and their environment, investigating how technology alters the human-body and the positives and negatives of our electronic co-dependence. Often witty and humorous, Tom’s work is influenced by science fiction, the absurd and the surreal. Frequently creating and experimenting with reclaimed materials, found objects and electronics salvaged from dead toys and household appliances - reuse and recycling is at the heart of this artists practice. Tom also enjoys experimenting with audience interaction in his work.

Tom’s work during the residency will use sculpture, installation and digital processes to further explore the concept of the hyperreal - an inability of consciousness to distinguish reality from a simulation of reality.
