Exhibition Dates: 10 April - 16 May

GROUNDRUSH is an exhibition that presents a unique response by six artists to time spent on a gold mine in rehabilitation mode in the Tanami Desert.

The GROUNDRUSH project involved six artists with diverse practices spending several weeks during the winter of 2007 in the Tanami Desert in residence at the Tanami Mine. The Tanami Mine Village is 650km from Alice Springs and allowed the artists a unique opportunity to interact with the site individually and collaboratively. Each exploring through art making, the interface of mining, environmental restoration and the life of a mining village.

This exhibition presents work across several mediums including sculpture, photomedia, video, painting, drawing music and dance and promises to present new and interesting perspectives on mining and the Australian landscape, specifically from the Tanami desert area.

This project was made possible with permission of the Warlpiri Traditional Owners.
