(2011)

Helani Laisk’s work to date has been focused on ideas and materials concerning ‘the everyday’ and in particular her personal experience of the everyday. She is interested in the idea of a ‘personal mythology’ that materialises through the expression of thoughts and imaginings in daily life. For Helani this has come through the transformation of the mundane into the surreal or exotic.

With diverse media such as mould-making, photography, glass, etching, lithography and knitting, in 2011 Helani is planning a broad conceptual examination of a particular ritual of daily life: sleep.
