This solo exhibition by Kamberri/Canberra-based self-taught artist Sean Martin showcases a series of drawings and oil paintings centred on the idea of anonymous sentimentality. Figurative scenes from an iPhone camera roll are stripped and scoured of their detailed truth. The subjects are personal but ubiquitous - a friend pouring a beer, the impression of a Weber BBQ and an Instagram geotag. Anonymous Sentiment opposes the notion that sentimentalism is purely selfish or worse, gauche.
