ZEV AVIV
Transcendent Flesh
14 - 23 April 2023, CCAS Manuka
Transcendent Flesh is an imagining of potential futures, different dimensions and queer evolution.
Envisage each object as a piece of the artist Zev Aviv’s body, removed and tended to before being sent into an alternate world to change, adapt and grow. This alternate world is a queer utopia where bodies are sites of joy and transcendence, where bodily self-determination isn’t governed by medical fees, violence or heteronormativity. These blobs of flesh in the form of interactive soft sculptures have become a landscape of delight and intrigue and have returned to this dimension to be reminders of the fine line between discomfort and liberation. They are an offer of interaction, connection and possibility, an offer to touch and celebrate the artists queer body and its potential to be a site of joy. They are meant to be fun, disturbing and as curious about you as you are of them.
